New Business:
A. Youth
Bridge – Patty Tucker, ACBL Youth
Coordinator – Youth4Bridge, will be at the Cleveland
Regional on January 15 and 16, 2010 to present information on Youth
Bridge. The thrust
of her discussions will be two fold;
1) How to set up successful youth
bridge programs (she presents to anyone
interested) and 2) How to fund Youth Bridge programs (she presents this area to the district board members,
unit board members and educational directors).
She will also make herself
available for individual consultation.
This is available at no cost to the district
or units.
Celeste and
Gene Krejsa have started their second year at Hillside
Middle School. They have a new
group of 7th graders that Celeste works with and Gene is continuing
with 4 of their first group who
continue to be interested. They average
21 members in their group. Doug Henderson
visited their club last week. He is
interested in starting a club in the Cleveland
School System. Harvey Bernstein
will visit next week. He has expressed
interest in starting a new club/group
within the school systems. Sue Pisanelli
started her group last week at Greenbriar Middle
School. There were 5 interested students. Celeste and Gene Krejsa, Sue Craney and Elayne Rupert were on hand to support Sue.
B. Susan
Stark discussed the Wednesday Unit Game at the Solon
Party Center. The game is doing
very poorly. There are only 2 to 3
tables. The Unit Bylaws call for a
weekly Unit Game. What can we do to improve the attendance for
this game? What should we as a Board do
about this game? There were several suggestions. We could try having a lecture prior to the
game; work on the mentoring program to
support the attendance and interest of nonlife masters; have special events prior to the game. Bob Bartko has volunteered to donate a Spaghetti
Dinner for one of the games.
After
consideration, the board by consensus decided to try the following schedule of
events for December. After that time the board will again consider
the future of the Wednesday Unit Game.
December 2, 2009 --- Spaghetti Dinner
prior to Unit Game
December 9, 2009 --- StaC Game
December 16, 2009 – Holiday
Party – Pot Luck
December 23, 2009 – No game
December 30, 2009 – No game
c. There will be no Regular December Unit Board
Meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:32
PM following a motion by Harriet Kitay and seconded by Eva Lefton.
Respectfully submitted,
Sue Pisanelli, Secretary
The next board will be held on November
11, 2009 at the Solon Party Center.
