Dear Team Captain:

Welcome to the 2009-2010 Vichill League, which is the largest team game of its kind in North America. Attached to this letter are the Conditions of Contest, the list of teams, a list of substitutes (you are not limited to this list, but see below) and this year’s schedule. You will also find an alphabetical list of the people playing in Vichill. This will be useful in keeping you from calling someone to substitute who is already on a team. All of this information will hopefully also be on the Whist Club website. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE TWO SCHEDULE CHANGES. WE HAVE DROPPED THE FEBRUARY 3 DATE AND REPLACED IT WITH NOVEMBER 4 AND WE HAVE REPLACED APRIL 14 WITH APRIL 7.

Please read Rule 10- Substitutes, Replacements, and Additions. Your most important duty as captain is to make certain, well in advance, that you have four players available to play every match. We suggest that you make sure you can contact players during the day in case of a weather related postponement of a match. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to find a substitute in the event you are unable to field four players from your own team. If you have exhausted all possibilities for finding a substitute, you may contact your bracket coordinator for help. The bracket coordinator must approve your choice of substitutes, and will then notify both team captains of approval or rejection. PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE of your bracket coordinator, your team, the opposing team, and your substitute and PLAN AHEAD whenever possible. It is always a nice gesture to pay the entry fee for your substitute.

Please make certain you set up a schedule with your teammates, so as to avoid complications later in the year.

Matches will be rescheduled due to weather if the Solon school system is closed, though the co chairs reserve the right to reschedule due to weather even if the schools are open. A postponement notice will also hopefully be present on the Party Center answering machine, 440/248-4893, though there is no guarantee that will happen.

Please remember on the first night it is each captain’s responsibility to be prepared to pay for the first, as well as the last two nights’ entry fees. It is $7.00 per person, $28.00 per team per night. The first night your team will be required to pay a total of $84.00. If your team has more than four members, it is recommended that the captain record who has paid for the final two nights.

All cell phones must be turned off or be on vibrate during this event. Failure to do so will result in a 5 IMP penalty for the first offense and a 10 IMP penalty for each subsequent violation. If you expect an emergency call, please ask the Director or Caddy if he or she can hold the phone and advise you when the call is received. Please leave the playing area to respond.
